cKush

cKush is the stage name of Kareem Lewis, a Guyanese rapper, songwriter and recording artist from Lodge, Georgetown. His music uses Guyanese Creole and draws on hip-hop, dancehall, Afrobeat and calypso. Local expressions, humour and references to places in Guyana are recurring parts of his writing.

Lewis grew up on D’Urban Street and attended Central High School. He began writing lyrics while still at school and gained an early opportunity to perform through a Mashramani concert. In interviews with Guyana Chronicle and INews Guyana, he described developing his writing with encouragement from his brother and cousin. One of his first recordings was a home-recorded reinterpretation of Lil Wayne’s Single, adapted into Guyanese Creole. He has named Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Popcaan, Vybz Kartel and folk music among his influences.

His recorded work developed through collaborations with other Guyanese musicians, including producer and artist Drew Thoven. The pair’s work with Gully Ras on No Eggball became a prominent part of his 2020 catalogue. Releases from that period also include Dunce Thugs, Go Back Inside and John Wick, followed by Wake Up in 2021. These recordings sit alongside solo freestyles and later collaborations such as Outside Again with Gully Ras.

Welcome to Moco Moco presents another side of his writing. Produced by Rondell Glasgow of Guava Productions, the song connects his Georgetown background with the Rupununi community of Moco Moco. In a January 2022 News Room interview, he discussed the song’s relationship to his love for Guyana. The official music video followed in May 2022, with further releases including Gah Link and Bring It On.

His more recent releases include cKush Thoughts, Bueno and Guyanese Badmon (ROTD Saga). The latter was published on his official cKush Music YouTube channel on 15 October 2026, with production credited to AVGotDRIP and video work to Studio7. This Vibez GY selection brings together that release and established songs from his official channel, with individual artwork, release details and collaborator credits.
