Slingerz Family, a prominent music and entertainment group based in Vergenoegen, Guyana, was founded in the late 1990s by Javed Ali. With the help of DJ Face, the group quickly transformed from a local sound system into a national sensation, popularizing the “West Side” branding. This branding resonated deeply with the people of West Bank Demerara, West Coast Demerara, and East Bank Essequibo, fostering a sense of pride and unity. Their annual Vergenoegen Village Day, held on Christmas Day, became a marquee event, drawing thousands from across the country.
